We're looking for an Evening Housekeeping Assistant to provide and maintain a high standard of cleaning services at The Dower House. To undertake all duties and responsibilities in a way which reflects the overall philosophy of The Dower House which is to put our residents needs first in a professional and friendly atmosphere.


Reporting to: Housekeeper
Responsible to: General Manager
Hours: Weekly, Mondays and Tuesdays, 2.30pm – 7.30pm. 60 hours per month, plus additional holiday cover when necessary.
Holiday Entitlement: 5.6 weeks pro rata

Principle Responsibilities:

To provide and maintain a high standard of cleaning services at The Dower House. To undertake all duties and responsibilities in a way which reflects the overall philosophy of The Dower House which is to put our residents needs first in a professional and friendly atmosphere.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Daily

  • Set up Afternoon Tea trolley with resident’s orders at 2.30pm.
  • Deliver Afternoon Tea to residents throughout the home at 3pm – 4pm.
  • Collect used empty crockery from resident’s rooms.
  • Perform cleaning duties within the Pantry, including but not limited to, cleaning tea trolleys, Supper tray trolleys, shelves, surfaces, crockery and cutlery.
  • Public Area cleaning (as required);
    - Perform ‘emergency’ cleaning of carpets when spills occur throughout the home.
    - Hoovering corridors
    - Dusting public area furniture and ornaments
    - Polishing mirrors and pictures
    - Dust high levels (walls, cornices, etc.) with long handled feather duster
    - Cleaning public and staff toilets
    - Check supply of toilet rolls, soap and paper towels in public toilets/ Pantry and replenish as needed.
    - Clean brass on stairways.
    - Deep cleaning of empty bedrooms may be required on occasion.
    - Using the fogging machine when necessary – Full training will be given.
    - Delivering resident’s post.
  • Deliver Supper trays to resident’s, starting at 6pm.
  • Collect empty trays.

General

  • Always shut fire doors behind you.
  • Put all equipment neatly away after use to avoid trip hazards.
  • Always use Yellow ‘Trip Hazard’ sign when hovering to bring others to the attention of trailing leads.
  • Report any maintenance issues in maintenance book so that they are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • You are responsible for changing the hoover bag, keeping your equipment clean and reporting any faults.
  • Maintain an efficient use of supplies and encourage good housekeeping principles to ensure a maximum cost-effective usage of equipment/supplies.
  • Ensure that Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Ensure clinical waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
