Are you getting a good night’s sleep?

Are you getting a good night’s sleep?

Author: Sara Stagg

Here at The Dower House all rooms come with a hospital style bed as standard, but if you prefer to continue using your own bed when moving in with us permanently and your care needs allow this, you can continue to sleep in the same, comfortable, familiar bed which you may have used for several years.

Moving into a new
environment can be very unsettling, and so keeping your own bed can help to
adjust to your new home.

Although your own bed is incredibly comforting it is always
worth considering:

*Can you remember when you last changed your mattress? The
general recommendation is that we should replace our mattress every seven years
to ensure it continues to provide the support required and is also essential in
terms of helping keep any pesky bed bugs at bay. Here at The Dower House we are
currently on a programme to renew any mattresses as necessary, so every
mattress is being checked to ensure that it is still up to scratch and any that
are no longer at their best will be replaced.

*Do you know which direction your bed has been facing in
your current home? When moving, it can also disrupt your sleep if you are then
facing a different direction (ie changing from a bed facing north-south to then
be sleeping in a bed facing east-west)

*If you are choosing to keep your own bed when moving in
with us here at The dower House, it will also be worth considering what you
need help with and how this can be managed whilst staying in your own bed. Change
can be difficult, but it may be necessary to ensure that we provide adequate
care safely, that you will need to use a different bed.

As you can see, there can be a lot to consider to ensure we get
a good nights sleep!
