If you enjoy spending time in the garden you may do some gardening, or simply appreciate the beautiful and extensive gardens. Regular trips to gardens of interest, National Trust properties and garden centres are a regular feature of life at The Dower House.
Musical entertainment is always a popular choice at The Dower House.
There is a grand piano which you, or your family, are welcome to play at any time. It has been known for resident’s grandchildren to play and sing to the residents which they really enjoy, and it always puts a smile on everyone’s faces.
Throughout the year we have welcomed performances from String Quartets and Ukulele Bands along with piano and violin recitals.
Students from Winchester College, St Swithun’s and Prince’s Mead schools perform delightful songs from their choirs, musical recitals and amusing ditties.
To keep everyone informed of the upcoming activities there is a Monthly Newsletter which also includes updates from the garden and other works in progress throughout The Dower House.
For your comfort and convenience, you can make use of the large screen and induction loop system in the Drawing Room. This also provides the perfect setting for weekly film screenings. You are encouraged to let us know if there is a favourite film on DVD you would like us to try and obtain.
Throughout the year we offer residents an exciting choice of daytrips which you may join if you wish.
When the weather allows, we take the opportunity to enjoy trips out to local National Trust properties, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and local places of interest. If the weather is not in our favour, there are always plenty of exhibitions and events to choose from both in nearby Winchester and further afield.
More locally, trips to the local pub the Kings Charles in Kings Worthy, are looked forward to by many residents.
During our trips, the appropriate number of suitably qualified staff are on hand at all times.Click here to view our Activities & Events Schedule
